When I became active on internet, the first thing I did was to search for my college friends. We were five friends in our group. Four of us were school friends and fifth one joined us in college. After graduation, we went our separate ways. I chose journalism, Shaweta opted for medicine, Shivali aka Rajni got married and Reena went to Hisar for further studies in Hisar agricultural University. We lost contact with each other. Shaweta lived in my town, but I was so busy with work that I never got time to meet her.
I have been searching for my lost friends since I first went to London. Its ironical that when I was near them, I had no inclination of meeting them, and after reaching far away land, I was anxious to know about them. There are many people finders where you type a name, say for example :Dan Neumeister, and you will get full biodata of the person.
I have not been lucky in my search, but I hope to find them some day.
Lost Friends
Speakers Stolen
We bought our first car in November last year. It’s a second hand maruti-800. With proper maintenance, it’s been running smoothly. My father-in law is very particular about servicing and replacing damaged parts. He is the one who first learned driving after buying the car. My husband insists that I too learn driving, but I hesitate. After surviving three accidents on scooter, I am reluctant to try my luck with cars.
Yesterday my daughter informed me that some bad uncles had taken away the speakers from the car. I considered it as the usual nonsense chatter of my three year old. But my father-in law confirmed the news that somebody has stolen in-ceiling speakers speakers from the car. He is in a bad mood today. My husband suggested this idea to him, but he rejected saying that there is no need of spending extra amount on this old car. But I know that he really likes to listen to music while driving, so I am thinking of getting new speakers without informing him.
A Good Lawyer
One of my colleagues at my former college is pursuing law. She is keen on becoming a lawyer. I have seen her closely and know that she will become a good lawyer. A good lawyer should have good reasoning power and the strength to sustain pressure and stress. Humor not only keeps stress at bay, but also makes your case stronger in the eyes of jury and judges. If you are able to see both sides of the coin, then you can be a good lawyer, because which ever side you represent, you will have your preparations ready. Need not to say that the more argumentative you are, the more successful you will be as a lawyer.
Besides an attorney should have through knowledge of his field and should be able to refer to different sections of the law without consulting the books. I have advised her to look out for San Diego business law, where she will definitely learn new and innovative strategies.
My Garden
The quarter, where we have shifted now, has a small garden in it. There is a lemon tree, a palm tree, and a large peepal. There are many floral plants too, like jasmine, marigold and rose shrubs. There is a cactus like plant too, but its name I didn’t know. The gardener says that this is hoodia, which is supposed to help in weight loss. Then there is money plant. When we were kids, we used to steal money plant vines and grow them in pots. It is said that if you plant a stolen money plant vine in your house, then you will get rich. Funny, isn’t it:)
A Tool Box for my Father-in law
I brought a tool-box for my father- in law. He is a J.E. ( Junior Engineer), and a master of all trades. He can do all the plumbing and electrical works himself. I have been on the look out for a tool box for him ever since I first saw one in a Poundland shop in London.
My husband didn’t like the idea of presenting tool box, but I stood my ground and finally he relented this time. I bought a 32 piece tool box with the money I earned through blogging. The tool box contains air tools, power tools and drills. It is in the shape of a small suitcase.
I brought the tool box with so much enthusiasm, but the bubble burst when my father-in law asked one day,” Where is the drill that Kuldeep( my husband) sent for me?” This is what you get if you keep mum, you do all the work and some one else takes the credit ![]()
