I have so many things to share and write about. I want to write on the issues related to education, crafts, movies, kids, education, beauty and all those things that interest me. Every time my daughter quips something funny or wise, I think of penning it on one of my blogs. Every time I leave my house, I put my digital camera in my Jacket’s pocket. You don’t know when you may find some interesting scene or an opportunity to click a nice photo for your blog. Now a days every move I make, everything I do, is related to finding topics for writing. And I don’t have a dearth of them. So my advice to fellow writers is that you should take more interest in your life to beat that writer’s block. Go out and have fun. This will not only rejuvenate your spirits, but it will also give you material for writing.
Today we went to a friend’s house for the first time so we hired a cab, which had GPS system installed in it. In fact every cab in Edinburgh is fitted with GPS. So I can write on the use or misuse of GPS.
When we reached friend’s house, her mother was ready to cook chicken for us. She was waiting for me as I had asked her to show how she prepares chicken recipe. I got good ORIGINAL content for my craft blog. I have even thought of the title ” How to cook chicken in 30 minutes”.
We went shopping in the evening and I bought a very elegant long black coat from one of the charity shops for just three bucks! I am thinking of compiling a list of charity shops in the city so that other people can also benefit from the information. So, that’s the third topic of the day.
If I seriously work on these three subjects, I will be occupied for a week. See, its so easy to get out of the shell and get going.

I am not making a general statement here. Physics was never one of my favorite subjects. I nearly failed my school graduation exam because of physics. I was always interested in Zoology though. But all the technical and mathematical terms like linear motion, acceleration, gravitation etc. always made my mind whirl. I dreaded going to the physcis lab, because I never could count the oscillations of the pendulum or set the equipments right. I remeber the face of our physics teacher. She was a dreadful lady, who liked nothing than to clip her nails and chat with another tecahers. Thankfully I passed the exam.

With such multitude of children’s books to choose from, where do you begin? Here are some guidelines to help you to select books for children.

  • When you go to the bookstore or library, allow yourself as much time as possible.
  • Whenever possible, take your child, so that she can experience the pleasure of browsing through books.
  • If you are choosing a book for your child to look at, choose one suitable for his age level. When selecting a book for story telling, select one aimed about a year and a half above your child’s age.
  • Choose a mixture of short and long stories, and as your child gets older, she could have a bedtime book, with a chapter that is read every night.
  • Check to see if the book has any images or ideas that might frighten your child; this is especially important if it is a book for bedtime. Also avoid just glancing at the first two pages; you might be caught out by an unexpected ending.
  • Choose books that you know your child has an interest in- for example animals or transport. Also consider books that deal with childhood issues like feelings, sharing and friendship.
  • Make sure that there is a balance of books between the fantastical and the everyday, with a wide range of human emotions.
  • Non-fiction books are great for dealing with First time situations like new baby in the family, going to the doctor, or the first day at school. They can also be used to explore an interest your child may have-for example dinosaurs-or to answer questions about the world around us.
  • Choose books that contain clear illustrations that illuminate the text, and in the case of fiction, give an idea of the sequence of the story.
  • Finally, and very importantly, allow your child to have some input into the selection of books.
