Ananya went to school today. I dropped her and stayed there for a couple of minutes. Generally the schools policy is to let the parent stay with the child for sometime and gradually let the child make the transition from home to school. But I had discussed with the head teacher that Ananya was already going to a play school in India. She was used to the idea of going to school and someone dropping her there and picking up later. If I start sitting with her now, it will only tempt her to cling to me more. The head teacher agreed with me.
I spent those thirty minutes wandering on the streets. I saw a pharmacy and thought of buying some diet pills, but it was too early for any shops to open. The stroll benefited me though. I got to know the way to library. Its near the school.
I went back to the nursery after half an hour, I found Ananya sitting on a stool in front of a PC and a bilingual teacher was sitting next to her. I was pleased to see that she had settled in quite well.
