How to Choose Children’s Clothes
My husband’s friend Steve was wondering how quickly his infant son is growing. He is amazed that Ted is already six inches longer in six weeks. He complains that they will have to start buying new infant clothing for Ted soon. Well, this is the task that you have to complete every two-three months if you have young kids and toddlers.
Most of the time when a child is born we see a flood of infant clothing as gifts from friends and relatives. These clothes are generally for the newborn and they outgrow them soon. Buy bigger sized infant clothes, but do buy the right sized ones too. You don’t want to see a clown in over sized clothes all the time. Choose a dress which has buttons on the front. If you try putting the dress on her by pulling it down her head, it may hurt her or cause inconvenience to both of you.
For toddlers dresses, I would suggest that you buy some durable clothing. Children, particularly toddlers are fond of playing in mud and water. They like to get dirty. So buying durable clothing will save you some bucks and also some precious washing time. Choose colors that don’t show dirt on them. Cotton is a good choice. Its a cool and comfortable.
As mom of a two year old, I know how moms want to dress up their children in pretty clothes. My advice would be that you wait for sales that trendy brands open during the end of the season and around Christmas.
Edinburgh is full of charity shops. I frequently go there to browse stuff, and let me tell you, I have bought many pieces of children’s clothing from these shops. I will say that thrift shops are the first place you should look for children’s clothes. Yard sales are a good option too.
Planning for next baby? Then plan for their clothing right now. Keep putting all the small cloths of your first child in a bag. My mother still has our infant clothes in her trunk. My sister saved her first son’s clothes, then used them for her second son, and then I used them for my infant daughter.Moral of the story: You can use used clothes for many years if they are properly stored.
